Why would you need a battery charger?
Battery maintenance can be one of the more tricky areas to tackle on a boat with there being a wide variety of battery options such as lead acid, gel batteries etc, on top of the demands put on them by your boat's systems.
Consistently failing to fully charge a battery can reduce its total capacity over time as it will never regain what it has lost. Coupling this with excessive discharging, taking a battery below 50% of its capacity, or flattening completely, can also be detrimental to your boat battery's health.
You also don't want to overcharge your batteries, especially bad for Gel and AGM batteries, leading to boiling the electrolyte out of the cells, or even in some worst case scenarios batteries overheating which can lead to terrible results.
