Deck trainers tend to be lighter weight than traditional leather deck shoes, with mesh upper construction on most models adding to their fast drying nature by allowing water to drain and air to vent through them.
A lot of sailing trainers are treated with anti bacterial treatments, helping to prevent them becoming smelly with use. They are suited to wet and dry conditions and when paired with a waterproof sock they can be a great alternative to sailing boots in wet, but warm conditions.
