- Overpriced bicycle light? Review by Boatbuilder
As my work colleague observed, it’s about a bright and sophisticated as the average rear bike for a third of the price.
So in essence what you get is a multi-function LED red flashing torch. Yes is water tight (as is a good bike light) and yes hopefully it will get a tick of approval if you should ever have the need for lifeboat team.
But is it 'day glow'/florescent to make it easy to find in the dark – No.
Does it have band of 3M reflective tape – No.
When you switch it on does it default to the brightest most visible mode - No.
Is the test switch right next to the emergency activation switch – Yes.
You see, you are really just getting a good torch with a long life battery but it looks official even though I believe technically these devices are not recognised under IMO regulations – something over looked in the advertising blurb.
To summarise – I’m pleased I’ve got one in the grab bag, but should be priced as a torch ( less that £30) and not the same as small pack of flares.
