If you require the use of mains electrical items such as tv's, computers and fridges on board your boat and you are using batteries, you need to convert the 12 volt DC current from the battery to 240 volt AC Mains power, this requires you to use an inverter. Depending on how many electrical items you need to use will determine the watts size of the invertor. Just remember to invest in a decent battery charger if you are going to run a lot of electrical parts on board your boat or yacht.

Make sure other boats or vessels on the water know where you are and where you are going by using suitable navigation lights. A red light should be mounted on the port side of your boat and a green light should be mounted on the starboard side. new innovations in LED lighting mean that you can get the same power lighting from LED navigation lights but without using as much power. However these savings have to be offset by the higher prices of the units.

Make sure you have sufficient lighting both on board your boat but also about your person; especially if you are going to and from your boat and its mooring. This can be achieved by a suitable torch. We have torches to suit all budgets, and all specifications, our waterproof torches are particularly popular, and with the advances in LED lighting you can get a very bright light from a compact torch.

If you're staying away from shore power for extended periods of time it's a good idea to consider trying to gather power from natural sources. Solar power is steadily becoming a viable option for adding power, plus we offer flexible solar panel that can be packed away when not being used. Our windchargers can be a great solution for coastal sailors and weekend cruisers, power can be generated from speeds as low as 5 knots.
