No matter what type of sailing you do, when or where you sail, wearing the correct clothing is essential. Now with the huge advances in technical clothing there is no reason why you can't be warm and dry whatever the weather.
We'd suggest a good starting point for this is the 'three layering system'. Adapting it to suit the individual requirements, such as when, where and what type of sailing.
For example we'd start by recommending a good base layer, which will transport body moisture away from the skin, keeping you warm, comfortable and dry.
Then you add a mid layer, this is an inexpensive but extremely insulating layer.
And then finally you have the outer protection layer, namely your foulies, items that are a laminate, breathable fabric, with all the necassary technical detail to protect you from the weather day or night. |
