TillerClutchX (Keelboat Model)
Sailing alone or short-handed?
Use the patented TillerClutchX to "lash the helm" with the simple click of a lever.
The TillerClutchX is a modified version of the standard TillerClutch (see Code: 860999) and is specifically intended for larger boats with heavier steering loads.
It's conveniently mounted under the tiller with the lever right in your steering hand.
Click it on or off for instant steering adjustments. The TillerClutchX is a specialised rope clutch, not a simple friction brake. There are no knobs to turn, friction to fight, plastic to break, ropes to tie, or bungee cords to adjust.
The TillerClutchX gives you a firm hand on the tiller, whenever you need it.
o Special grooved base fits round or square tiller handles
o Simple mounting - requires only two screws centred along tiller shaft
o Compact, solid metal construction withstands the abuse of hard sailing
o Major components made of solid aluminium alloy, hard-coat anodised and sealed
o Internal parts made of passivated stainless steel
o Thoroughly rounded edges for comfort and safety
o Does not use or interfere with the mounting points of a tiller pilot and remains in place when a tiller pilot is used
o Unique toggling rope clutch system balanced to maximise holding power with minimal user effort. No need for adjustment screw-knob
o Rope clutch mechanism calibrated to be overpowered in emergencies and to relieve excessive rudder stress in heavy conditions
o Size: Width 28mm, Depth 25mm, Body Length 79mm, Lever Length 57mm
o Suitable for heavier keelboats and cruisers from approx 27ft / 8.25m
o There is also a TillerClutch Standard model which is suitable for trailer sailors, day sailors and small cruisers up to approx 27ft / 8.25m (see Code: 860999).
TillerClutchX Kit Includes:
o TillerClutchX, 4.9m control line, mounting screws, instructions & limited lifetime warranty
- TillerClutchX very good. Review by TimL
Just received TillerClutch X the day after ordering - Nice work!
Easily fitted to tiller of my Yarmouth 22 Long Keel Yacht. (10mins / 2screws)
Supplied rope enough to keep half for spare.
Have been out several times since, single handed, and it really is like having someone else on-board. Just gives you time to pop up on foredeck to tweak something etc. Also handy when coming alongside berth - Can leave helm hard over with engine ticking ahead on the spring, while rest of moorings issued.
Pleasantly surprised how long boat will track straight, with just a little weather helm applied and locked with the easy to use clutch.
